Who We Are

We have always enjoyed drinking wine as well as the social aspect of wine tasting.  Both of us have spent our careers in education yet for as long as I can remember we fantasized about getting involved in the wine business.  

We tried our hand at making wine and produced some award-winning wines but starting a winery was never really an option….remember we both worked in education!  Oddly, the pandemic provided that final motivation.  Being laid off from my job (although furloughed feels so much kinder), we felt this was the time to make something happen. With a lot of help from Joe and Cherie at Monarch Grove Winery we were able to blend together and bottle our first wine ‘Ambition’.  And a blink later we are head high in cases of wine in desperate need of permanent homes.

Why 12 Virtues?

During my tenure teaching ancient history to ninth graders I was taken by the ancient philosophers of those early times. It was amazing that many of them had such a handle on the intricacies of the human spirit many which still ring true thousands of years later…..and none of them had a PHD.  Aristocle’s 12 virtues resonated because, if pursued properly, it gave a person a template to model their lives,and goes so far as to give you three levels of each virtue, not enough, just right, and too much.
